THE FOOD

Sottise is the second concept from chef-owner TJ Culp, of Restaurant Progress and a 2026 James Beard Award semifinalist for Best Chef: Southwest. His interpretation of the classic French bistro blends tradition with the creative perspective that defines his cooking—refined but unfussy, thoughtful without losing warmth.

Drawing inspiration from Parisian cafés, the French countryside, and the Mediterranean coast, the menu moves fluidly between restraint and indulgence, with an emphasis on seasonality, technique, and honest ingredients. The room reflects the same sensibility: intimate, lively, and rooted in a sense of place.

Since opening, Sottise has become a staple in downtown Phoenix—an everyday restaurant built for both occasion and routine, where guests can settle in, return often, and always find something new.

 THE WINE & COCKTAILS

At Sottise, the beverage program is guided by a balance of expertise and approachability. The wine list, curated by Advanced Sommelier Zac Adcox—a 2026 James Beard Award semifinalist for Outstanding Beverage Service—features roughly 100 bottles with a focus on classic regions, small producers, and bottles that complement the kitchen.

Beverage Director Mike Warrington leads a bar program rooted in timeless technique, offering a mix of classic and original cocktails. From light, aperitif-style drinks to more spirit-forward builds, the menu blends French spirits with modern American influence—reinterpreting tradition while keeping things approachable.

Together, the program is designed to enhance the table, whether through a considered pairing or a simple, well-made drink.
